The Mantis light combat armor was a ceramic-based protective light combat armor manufactured by Hahne-Kedar Solutions. Manufactured and entering service in 2165 CE, the Mantis armor was designed for use by humans, asari and turians and was initially contracted to be used by Alliance special forces and black ops units for use in clandestine, surgical and stealth-based operations. As the HYPERION-107 armor gradually overtook this role, the Mantis was instead purchased by PMC groups looking to outfit their more elite squads for similar roles as the Mantis was built for: as this outreach took place, the Mantis had a variant built for turians. Being light armor, it had low damage protection and was outfitted with somewhat weak kinetic barriers, but was extremely flexible and lightweight. The Mantis armor would be phased out by 2184 CE, entirely replaced by the Coyote armor built by Hahne-Kedar to succeed the Mantis, although the majority of mercenary groups moved over to the Stormtrooper armor.
