"How many lives might have been saved if we didn't deploy the genophage? Imagine what could have happened! Saren may have been stopped before he even got to the Citadel! Increased krogan presence would have required the turians to deploy more ships along the border to ensure they remain unchecked, therefore ensuring that the geth got nowhere near the Citadel, or even near Eden Prime! History could be totally different if we hadn't decided to play God!"
— Maelon Heplorn

Doctor Maelon Heplorn was a former STG operative and junior scientist. Born on Aegohr, Maelon quickly followed Mordin Solus, who he saw as a form of mentor, and was a sole believer in the genophage's necessity. He followed Mordin into the STG, and was assigned to the Third Infiltration Regiment. He participated in the Battle of Virmire, which traumatized him to the point of leaving the STG. He eventually does research on the effects of the genophage, and becomes an anti-genophage advocate, losing his respect for Mordin. He tries to create a cure for Clan Weyrloc, but is stopped by Mordin and his attempted cure confiscated; something that would later be used as a template for the final cure a year later. Maelon set up a clinic on Omega, and was present when Cerberus took the station, and when they lost it nearly a year later. Following the Reaper War, he was abducted and enslaved by the batarians and taken to Khar'Shan, where he remained as a slave until he was killed by the BRS Coagulation when it crashed into Kepcedah.
