The Lightning Strike sniper rifle was a bolt-action heat sink-based block-fed sniper rifle manufactured by Batarian State Arms. Manufactured and entering service in 1791 CE, the Lightning Strike sniper rifle was designed for exclusive use as the Hegemony Armed Forces standard issue sniper rifle, possessing high damage potential but requiring a stabilization mount to be used due to its high recoil, mediocre heat mitigation leading to quick overheat with sustained fire and mid-range accuracy and range. While some Lightning Strike sniper rifles would leak out into rest of the galaxy through black market deals, they were rare, with Batarian State Arms manufacturing weapons intended only to be used by the Hegemony military and Feksogar. The weapon was used by dedicated sniper teams due to it requiring a stabilization mount to manage the recoil, but its range was limited by the rifle's bullet spread. The design was derivative of what would ultimately become the design for the M-97 Viper following the introduction of the thermal clip in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. The AT-19 Kishock is the Hegemony's direct successor to the Lightning Strike, standard issue amongst all Hegemony military forces and used by Feksogar death squads and sniper teams.
