The Liberator heavy combat armor was a ceramic-based protective heavy combat armor manufactured by Devlon Industries. Manufactured and entering service in 2170 CE, the Liberator armor was designed for use by human, asari, krogan and turian mercenaries and bounty hunters, providing a powerful set of armor meant for absorbing heavy firepower at the cost of being more vulnerable to tech and biotic attacks. The Liberator was also a heavier, more expensive alternative to their Explorer armor, meant for providing heavy duty security and protection in more dangerous situations and scenarios, such as warzones, VIP security and asset protection. Cerberus made heavy use of the Liberator armor amongst their commandos as well, outfitting demolitions/assault teams with the Liberator where the extra layer of damage protection would be necessary. The Liberator armor would be phased out by 2184 CE, entirely replaced by the Stormtrooper armor in use by human, asari and turian mercenaries, the A1S armor among krogan mercs and the SPARTAN-31 assault armor and later SPARTAN-100 power armor in the Cerberus Armed Forces.
