"Oh please, remember who you're talking to. I've booked so many people I remember their faces, names, their favourite food, why they wanted to immigrate, even the name of their late great great grandfather. I won't just have those names for you...I'll make you sure you know them. That's the service I provide. Remember that next time you question my memory."
— Lerkaw's rant to Caity Monteague when asked if he can remember the name of a serial killer the team was hunting at the time.

CIO Officer Lerkaw Mierin was a former C-Sec officer who worked in the Customs division and a member of Archangel's Omega Squad. Born on the Citadel in the Shalta Ward, Lerkaw grew up among the multi-species elite of the galaxy, disconnected from salarian society and thus growing up amongst a soup of cultural and social influences, resulting in Lerkaw possessing a personality and outlook on the galaxy that few salarians born on salarian worlds exhibited. Lerkaw was mostly jovial and flippant, finding humor even in serious topics, an attitude that irritated many of those around him, even family members and close relatives, and this only worsened when Lerkaw refused to go to a salarian university in order to further his knowledge, choosing instead to join C-Sec as soon as he was old enough in order to become a customs enforcement agent in the organization's Customs division. Despite what his personality suggested however, Lerkaw was dedicated when he had his focus on a set goal, and he completed C-Sec Academy with distinction, quickly being assigned to Customs and Immigration as he wanted and placed in the Traffic Control Center in the Citadel Tower in 2157 CE. For the next 25 years, Lerkaw worked at the Traffic Control Center without incident, doing his job with extreme proficiency and with a clean record, seeing hundreds of arrivals and outbounds come in every week: even for a salarian however, this amount of work was exorbitant, and the job became extremely stressful, wearing down on Lerkaw and his colleagues. In 2182 CE, human reporter Emily Wong did an expose on C-Sec's traffic controller conditions, having enlisted Lerkaw's help in planting a bug to expose the work conditions Customs officers are placed under, and using it to demand an expanded staff, better overtime and sick pay and improved systems to streamline traffic monitoring and reduce stress on organic operators to reduce the likelihood of user error. While Lerkaw was kept anonymous in Wong's report as per their agreement, C-Sec was able to deduce his involvement, and he was pressured into giving up his position, citing a "well earned retirement." Lerkaw was devastated to lose his job, but refused to combat C-Sec's decision, realizing it would be a waste of time and he was better off simply moving on with his life.

In late 2182 CE, a few months after losing his job, Lerkaw finally booked a ticket off of the Citadel and left for Omega, deciding to use his knowledge of biometric security systems and customs control to start up a business specializing in forging false IDs and helping immigrants bypass C-Sec's customs control, full of spite and anger towards the organization for costing him his dream job. Upon arriving on the station however, he found his perception of the station challenged, finding it to be far worse than the reports he'd read, rampant with unrestricted crime and completely lawless. Lerkaw pushed forward with his business plans where he would ultimately meet Postivius Ramsis, his first customer, a former ERCS security guard on the run from the organization for embezzling thousands of credits and wanted on almost every Council world as a result. Creedsworn mercs hired by ERCS to capture Postivius raided the store, but with help from Lerkaw, Postivius was able to escape, and the two of them went into hiding together, with Postivius explaining that he stole the money to fund his escape, as he had discovered most of his ERCS chapter were involved in protecting a drug trafficking ring, with many of them on the local cartel's payroll, and that the cartel discovered his attempts to investigate and he had to run. The two of them become friends, and Lerkaw uses his abilities to help Postivius forge a new identity, and convincing ERCS he had escaped Omega and to take their search elsewhere. In late 2183 CE, both of them heard about Archangel's escapades on the station, and were later approached by Lantar Sidonis with an offer to join the team, an offer that Postivius leapt on, and Lerkaw was persuaded to accept. Lerkaw became the team's chief information broker, collecting information on new arrivals to Omega, creating dossiers of important individuals, and using his ID forgeries to wipe the squad's identities and better hide them from prying criminals looking to get leverage on them. Having served in C-Sec, Lerkaw already had basic weapons training, and he would often accompany the squad on numerous combat missions, although he mostly remained on the sidelines in order to relay important information to them on the fly, or remained back at the base, continuing to collate their growing knowledge base on Omega's criminal kingpins. When the team became divided on whether to continue their war or cash their chips and call it quits, Lerkaw voted for the latter, but ultimately agreed to use his credits to fund further operations after some debate from pro-war members of the squad.

In July 2185 CE, Lerkaw Mierin was in the team's headquarters of the Suri-Kara Hotel with the rest of the team (except for Garrus and Sidonis, the former of which was investigating a lead and the latter doing a supply run) running a background check on Jentha Renmark, Krefin Tarak's second-in-command, when the Blue Suns and Blood Pack launched a surprise raid on their base, having captured and tortured Sidonis into giving up his team and leading Garrus away on a false lead as bait. Lerkaw was killed in the initial bombardment of the base that opened up the attack, blown apart when a rocket impacted below his seat, consuming him in a heated conflagration before he could respond, leaving little to nothing of his body to recover. Upon returning to the hideout to find his dead squad, Garrus was unable to recover Lerkaw's body, and was only able to confirm his death when he found his work desk, shredded and drenched in salarian gore. Garrus later scratched Lerkaw's name, along with the names of the rest of his squad, into his eyepiece in an effort to remember them.
