The Kovalyov assault rifle was a fully automatic heat sink-based block-fed assault rifle manufactured by Rosenkov Materials. Manufactured and entering service in 2167 CE, the Kovalyov assault rifle was developed under contract for use by the Systems Alliance Army, although Rosenkov also later sold them to private military corporations and independent contractors. The Kovalyov supplemented the Avenger as the Alliance Army's service rifle, while also being heavily used by mercenary PMCs such as the Blue Suns, Eclipse and Blood Pack, among other criminal factions as well, due to its reliability and devastating firepower. Despite its mediocre accuracy and industry-standard heat dispersion, the Kovalyov was revered as one of the most powerful assault rifles on the entire galactic market, able to punch through most heavy armor with ease and ruthlessly efficient at shredding kinetic barriers. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-15 Vindicator following the introduction of thermal clips in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. The Kovalyov has no direct successor, with Rosenkov moving its production capacity solely to the manufacture of armors and to its premiere sniper rifle, the M-97 Viper.
