The Karpov pistol was a semi-automatic heat sink-based block-fed heavy pistol manufactured by Rosenkov Materials. Manufactured and entering service in 2161 CE, the Karpov pistol was developed under contract for use by the Systems Alliance Army, although Rosenkov also later sold them to private military corporations and independent contractors, with the weapon heavily favoured by bounty hunters for its reliable performance and low maintenance needs, with one contractor famously saying "I could drench the Karpov in the foulest sludge and bang it against every wall...it'll never jam, it'll never shit itself, and it kills just fine." Whilst possessing a heavy recoil, it could be managed by a trained professional, and the weapon's stopping power and ability to land hits down on a target consistently with minimal bullet spread meant that many of those who utilized the Karpov were willing to forgive the recoil. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-6 Carnifex following the introduction of the thermal clip in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. While the Karpov had no direct successor, it was spiritually succeeded by the N7 Eagle.
