"Untouched, unexplored. Ilos is the only known case in the galaxy of complete prothean ruins, but noone dares touch it. There's just something...cursed about it. Like a veil of death hangs over the place. Those who have visited it have reported hearing voices whisping through the air...and ancient power systems that still run to this day. Whatever happened to the protheans...its a mystery that will haunt us until the end of time."
Asari historian.

Ilos (formerly known as Trakkar II to the protheans and Bastion to the Inusannon) is the second planet in the Refuge system of the Pangaea Expanse cluster, and was the former homeworld of the Inusannon. Being the capital of the Inusannon Confederate, it was known during the Inusannon cycle as the source from which all education, knowledge and freedom of speech flowed from. The planet fell during the Inusannon's War with the Reapers, and the only remnants of their civilization left was the ruins the Reapers left behind. During the prothean cycle, the planet served as the prothean version of the Mars Archives, and they built their own city around the ruins of the Inusannon's, turning Ilos into a top secret research facility. Ilos managed to survive the Reaper's extermination this time due to this secrecy, and its ruins are still present today. The planet once again saw war during the Battle of Ilos in the Eden Prime War of the asari cycle, of which it hasn't seen war since. Following the Reaper War, it remains a graveyard, and thus all development on the planet has been banned by galactic law.
