The Heretic Reserve Fleet was a fleet in the Geth Heretic Navy. By 2185 CE, it was under the command of a single GBS-008-class battleship. The fleet made up the smaller portion of the overall heretic navy, serving as ancillary to the larger Fleet of the Herald, which made up the bulk of the geth heretics' naval strength. The fleet was formed after the Geth Schism and the exodus of the heretic faction from the Perseus Veil, serving as a reserve fleet to resupply/reinforce the Fleet of the Herald where necessary, while also acting as a raider force. Unlike its sister fleet which was based out of the Virmire Heretic Fortress on Virmire, the Heretic Reserve Fleet's port of call was Haratar Station in the Sea of Storms system, where it enjoyed relative obscurity and could operate free of scrutiny and observation, allowing it to mount surprise attacks and escape very quickly.
While the Fleet of the Herald was the personal escort of Sovereign, the Heretic Reserve Fleet only served as a backup, and as a result it saw very little combat in the early stages of the Eden Prime War. It would see action during the Armstrong offensive in late June, where it was decisively defeated in a fleet battle by the Alliance Fifth Fleet at the Battle of Armstrong, forcing it to withdraw back to Haratar Station to undergo repairs and refit, having sustained heavy losses. The battle knocked it out of the remainder of the war, and it wasn't present to reinforce the Fleet of the Herald when it attacked the Citadel on 19 July. With the Fleet of the Herald largely obliterated at the battle with little to no surviving ships, the Heretic Reserve Fleet became the only remaining fleet of ships the geth heretics had remaining to them, so they used it sparingly. They would lose many more ships during this period, either to Alliance hunter-killer teams dealing with geth heretic holdouts after the war, or to other influences, including Migrant Fleet patrols. In 2185 CE, the geth heretics were reprogrammed by a geth-designed virus that caused them to abandon their Reaper worship and return to the Orthodox geth, ending the division between them. As a result, the Heretic Reserve Fleet was dissolved as an entity and the ships remaining in it returned to geth space and entered back into service with the Geth Navy.
