- "Our people have waited far too long to return to what is rightfully ours. I'm sick of waiting for one of the liveships to fall apart."
- — Han'Gerrel
Prime Candidate Han'Gerrel vas Neema (formerly known as Han'Gerrel nar Huzzi) was a former admiral in the Migrant Fleet and of the Heavy Fleet, former Fleet Admiral of the First Getho-Quarian Fleet and the Prime Candidate of the New Quarian Republic. Originally just a trainee on the corvette Yaska, Gerrel earned a reputation for being an avid advocate for war with the geth, and became good friends with Rael'Zorah, both of whom would go onto captain their own ships, as well as become admirals. Unlike Rael however, once returned from pilgrimage, Gerrel joined the marines, quickly rising in the ranks to Colonel. Believing he could make a difference by joining the Admiralty Board, he replaced former Admiral Cefu'Vesa vas Shihok as admiral of the Heavy Fleet. He later married Heelu'Zull vas Muraka, but had no children. He treated Tali like a daughter, being there for her when Rael could not. Gerrel remained the strongest advocate for war on the Admiralty Board, and got his wish when the Migrant Fleet invaded the Perseus Veil in 2186 CE; an assault he personally led. When the war ended, he was put in command of the First RANCO fleet, and was also present during the final battle with the Reapers over Earth.
Following the war, Han'Gerrel became the first Prime Candidate of the New Republic of Rannoch, winning the election in a landslide with his new views on furthering quarian-geth relations. Extremely popular among the quarian and geth peoples alike, he won three more elections, and was an advocate for strengthening diplomatic ties with the Systems Coalition: however, he strongly disagreed with the idea of seceding from the New Council. In 2197 CE, in a Promethean sanctioned operation, he was assassinated by a sniper, with Geoff Dielheart being resurrected and surgically placed in a quarian male's body identical to Han'Gerrel's, where he then continued in his place as Prime Candidate, the truth of the original Han'Gerrel's death not becoming known until the end of the Dominion Civil War.
