- "Don't go playing peek-a-boo with the HMWSR. This thing will knock the the head off an ant at 1000 meters and still have enough kinetic power to leave a smoking crater."
- — Turian requisitions officer.
The HetM Weapon/Sniper Rifle, also known as the Spectre Sniper Rifle, was a bolt-action heat sink-based block-fed sniper rifle manufactured by Spectre Requisitions for use by Spectres. Before the emergence of the thermal clip in 2184 CE, the HMWSR sniper rifle was the most expensive and powerful sniper rifle in the galaxy, costing a total of ten million credits to purchase a single unit. Its price matched its capabilities however, with its firepower being the strongest in the entire galaxy, with only the Volkov coming remotely close, and that came with good recoil dampening, a high amount of accuracy and a top-of-the-line heat dispersion system. The weapon was a must have by many Spectres, who could barely afford it themselves, but those armed with the HMWSR on the field were a force were a terrifying enemy for an enemy force, cratering a hostile target in a single hit even with heavy armor. The weapon was, in design, spiritually succeeded by the M-97 Viper, while the HMWSR sniper rifle had no direct successor: a spiritual successor however would come in the form of the M-98 Widow.
