"But you...you are a tolerable loophole. Your strength could tip the balance of the clans. You are a mistake, but are very powerful. You are useful; more useful than I previously thought."
— Uvenk to Urdnot Grunt after completion of the latter's rite of passage.

Chieftain Gatatog Uvenk was the chieftain of Clan Gatatog from 1572 CE to 2185 CE (and subsequently the last due to his actions), and the only surviving son of Gatatog Verx. Born several hundred years after the Krogan Rebellions ended, Uvenk grew up with only rumors and propaganda of what krogan spacefaring civilization had once been like, with Verx, his father, informing him of the Tuchankan Empire's greatness and how the breadth of its domain had stretched as far as Omega, and even beyond. Due to Gatatog's alignment with the Tuchankan Traditionalists in the Krogan Civil Wars, Uvenk strongly opposed any policies or ideology that coveted pro-alien agendas or supported Khoxxism (eponymously named for the leader of the female Borloc branch, which opposed Neo-Moroism and instead wanted to gear krogan society towards breeding, reconstruction and other peaceful endeavours, an ideology which would later become the founding policy of the Reformists), and was willing to go to war against those who he deemed to be endangering the 'krogan revolution.' He was deeply devoted to the policy of Neo-Moroism, which continued to engage in ideas of krogan breathing space and constant expansion, but now was geared towards krogan imperial resurgence, re-establishment of their spacefaring empire, and enacting revenge on the Council for the genophage. Uvenk became chieftain's adjutant to his father in the 1500s, and assumed command of the clan when Verx announced he would be leaving Tuchanka in search of Urdnot Wrex to avenge his ally, Urdnot Jarrod. Uvenk's chieftainship was meant to be temporary, but when Verx never returned, the change became permanent, with Uvenk defeating any and all challengers to his position.

Uvenk led Clan Gatatog into many battles during his reign, but won very few of them. Despite being weakened, the Reformists still had full support from the vast majority of the female clans, which greatly weakened the Traditionalists on a political scale, and hindered their ability to unite Tuchanka under their banner: this was only made worse by Urdnot Wreav's withdrawal of Clan Urdnot from the wars, denying the Traditionalists a significant ally. Uvenk, believing Wreav to be a threat if he should decide to turn to the Reformists, declared war on Urdnot in 2183 CE, only a month before the Battle of the Citadel, and thus only a month before the return of Urdnot Wrex. Uvenk intended to attack Urdnot Keep directly, but once Wrex assumed control of the clan, Urdnot went on the offensive. With Gatatog Hall under direct threat, Uvenk sued for armistice, with Wrex insisting upon a policy that he would go on to be feared, hated and known for: Wrexism. In short, Wrex, upon defeating a clan, gave them two options: accept his new world order and unite under the UKC, or risk being branded uraysh. Uvenk, knowing the Urdnot would overwhelm him with their superior manpower, capitulated and joined the UKC, but continued to harbor anti-Reformist beliefs, and planned to act on them somewhere down the line.

Uvenk would get his chance two years later with the appearance of Grunt, a clanless, tank-bred krogan warrior with the genes of legendary krogan warlords who intended to join Clan Urdnot. Uvenk was disgusted by him, believing his genes to be tainted and impure, and without having been born understanding the hardships of Tuchanka in order to be strong. However, upon witnessing Grunt bring down the Thresher Maw during his Rite of Passage (a feat that only Wrex had managed recently in his rite, many hundreds of years ago), Uvenk began to see a powerful ally he could use to destroy Urdnot from within, and hoped to entice Grunt to assassinate Wrex if he granted him membership in Gatatog instead. Uvenk greatly underestimated Grunt's intelligence however, and the tank-bred easily saw through Uvenk's manipulation. Uvenk attempted to kill Grunt and the team he fought with, but was outmatched and killed along with his bodyguards. Uvenk's betrayal was reported to Wrex, and in reprisal for the attempted assassination, Wrex branded Gatatog uraysh, and ordered the clan's decimation. A week later, the clan's hall was toppled, its furnishings stripped, the clan disbanded and its lands seized and absorbed by other clans. As a result of Uvenk's actions, his clan ceased to exist, and his brother (and chieftain's adjutant) was stripped of clan and kin and forced to walk off into the nuclear wastes to die of starvation or exposure.
