The Geth Cruiser, Light-189 Class (abbreviated GCL-189 Class Light Cruiser) was a classification of cruiser that served in the Geth Navy and the Geth Heretic Navy from 2166 CE to mid-2185 CE. Succeeding the GCL-188 class light cruiser, this class of cruiser was cited as having tougher shielding, as well as longer range weaponry, allowing it to snipe enemy naval targets from a longer distance. This made them perfect as patrol units, and they were used heavily to patrol the borders of geth space. These combat capabilities were observed heavily during the Eden Prime War. While observed at the Battle of Virmire, they were not seen in actual combat until the Battle of the Citadel.
The geth heretics continued to use the GCL-189 for many years after the Eden Prime War, right up until they were absorbed back into the geth.
