The Fleet of the Herald was a fleet in the Geth Heretic Navy. It was under the direct command of Saren Arterius from the flagship Sovereign, although the fleet was truly under the command of Sovereign itself. The fleet made up the bulk of the Geth Heretic fleet, with another smaller fleet making up the rest. The fleet was formed after the Geth Schism and the exodus of the heretic faction from the Perseus Veil, naming itself for their Reaper leader, who they dubbed their 'herald.' However, due to the Council and Alliance's lack of understanding of the dreadnought's nature, it was assumed Saren Arterius was the commander of the fleet during the Eden Prime War, where the Fleet of the Herald was the primary naval force of Saren's Alliance. The fleet's primary port of calling was the Heretic Fortress on Virmire, although the fleet itself would not see major fleet action until the Eden Prime War, where it was present at numerous engagements on Eden Prime, Feros and Virmire.
The Fleet of the Herald escorted Sovereign during the Battle of the Citadel in 2183 CE, where it inflicted heavy casualties on the Citadel Defense Fleet. The fleet almost destroyed the ARW Destiny Ascension, but last minute Alliance reinforcements hit the fleet in the rear, and while the geth were able to return fire and deal damage to the Alliance ships, they quickly foundered under the pressure. Their center collapsed, and once the remaining CDF vessels rallied on the Destiny Ascension, they retaliated and flew straight into the geth's exposed center, destroying key capital ships in the process. Without Sovereign to provide support, the fleet was utterly annihilated, with the few surviving ships scattering out of the system and regrouping at Haratar Station. The destruction of the fleet marked the end of the geth heretic threat as a naval power, and the total naval dominance of its enemies. Lacking the facilities to rebuild its lost ships, the geth heretics were limited to ground roles all the way up until their final dissolution in 2185 CE, with only peripheral support from the surviving Heretic Reserve Fleet.
