The Explorer light combat armor was a ceramic-based protective light combat armor manufactured by Devlon Industries. Manufactured and entering service in 2164 CE, the Explorer armor was designed for use by security corporations and expeditionary forces, seeing use in a variety of environments by the security of those hired to provide security to archaeological dig sites, colonization prospects, mining facilities, science teams, and more. The armor was initially designed for use by humans and asari, but a combat mesh variant was later designed for quarians to use during pilgrimage and was also used by the Migrant Fleet Marines. Being light armor, it had low damage protection and was outfitted with somewhat weak kinetic barriers, but was extremely flexible and lightweight. The Explorer armor would be phased out by 2184 CE, entirely replaced by the Stormtrooper armor and other armors in use by security forces.
