"Perhaps all you really needed was a pretty woman?"
Commander Shepard to Veetor'Nara referencing Elan'Shiya during Tali's trial in September 2185 CE.

Professor Elan'Nara pav Jaese'Wufor (formerly known as Elan'Shiya nar Usela and Elan'Shiya vas Rayya) was the chief medical officer of the QMFV Rayya during the Quarian Exodus, a doctor at the temporary Faeyya Hospital on Rannoch during the Reaper War and then the Hebra State Hospital on Jaese'Wufor post war, and a professor at Wesost University. Born on the QMFV Usela in 2155 CE, Elan was a dedicated individual at an early age, believing firmly in the eventuality that the quarian people would find a new home amongst the stars one day, becoming an early supporter of the Pe'geth movement at the age of 11, much to the grievance of her parents. At the age of 14, Elan enlisted in a medical science class on the QMFV Nogro for four years, becoming one of 4 students to achieve top grades and with the qualifications to enlist as a doctor in the Fleet, although she would hold off on any permanent postings due to not having completed her pilgrimage yet, and assisted in a limited capacity under her homeship's chief medical officer, Yolo'Garam, for another two years, in addition to completing a class in psychology in which she would also achieve high grades. In 2175 CE on the date of her 20th birthday, Elan departed on her pilgrimage, where she would volunteer for twelve months with the IMCEI (essentially an interstellar version of the Doctors Without Borders on Earth) before taking full-time work for ten months as a doctor with the Thessian Compassion Guild, with a posting on Trategos. She would later return to the Fleet in late 2176 CE, joining the crew of the QMFV Rayya as a doctor. By 2179 CE, Elan had become the chief medical officer on the Rayya, and doubled as a general practitioner as well as a psychiatrist. In 2185 CE, with his pilgrimage completed and assigned to the crew of the Rayya, Veetor'Nara's treatment was taken over by Elan'Shiya. Veetor's recovery sped up greatly during this time, as he got on well with Elan's style in their appointments, helped only further by the slight attraction held by Veetor towards her.

By the time of Tali'Zorah's trial in September 2185 CE, only a month and a half after Veetor's treatment with Elan began, he had progressed significantly, even making strides in his agoraphobia as demonstrated when he stood up in Tali's defense during her trial, an act which greatly impressed Elan. A month into Veetor's treatment Elan began developing feelings for Veetor as well, stepping down as his psychiatrist due to the conflict of interest inherent in that attraction, but this also allowed her more time with Veetor outside of their appointments, which allowed their relationship to develop: eventually, when Veetor worked up the courage to ask her out, she accepted. By the time of the Second Morning War, she was in a serious romantic relationship with Veetor. Following the Liberation of Rannoch, Elan would volunteer as a doctor at the Faeyya Hospital at the El'Tivv site on Rannoch, staying behind with most of the civilian population, and she would continue to serve at this hospital until it was finally replaced by the Rannochian State Hospital six years later and decomissioned. Following the Reaper War, Elan would marry Veetor, and move with him to the then-nascent re-established colony on Jaese'Wufor, where she would become a doctor at the capital city's state hospital, serving there for twenty-eight years before finally retiring to become a professor at the Wesost University. Elan lived a long life, finally passing away of natural causes in 2273 CE, causing her husband Veetor to stoop into a deep depression, also passing away in 2276 CE, only three years later.
