The Breaker assault rifle was a semi-automatic heat sink-based block-fed assault rifle manufactured by Kassa Fabrication. Manufactured and entering service in 2168 CE, the Breaker assault rifle was a high-end combat rifle designed to be used in a wide array of roles by mercenary companies and security corporations, but was also used by numerous interstellar militaries, among them the asari military. The weapon had excellent armor and barrier penetration and heat mitigation, although it possessed heavy recoil and moderate accuracy. After growing fed up with their own Banshee line of rifles, ERCS switched to using the Breaker, which they found to be superior in everyway to the Banshee, and so ERCS would continue to use the weapon for the rest of its service life. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-8 Avenger following the introduction of thermal clips in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. No direct successor to the Razer exists, with Kassa specializing in entirely in armor rather than weapons, with the exception of their famous M-12 Locust. In the asari military, the Breaker would be replaced by the M-15 Vindicator.
