The Berserker medium combat armor was a ceramic-based protective medium combat armor manufactured by Geth Armoury. Manufactured and entering service in 2164 CE, the Berserker armor was purpose-built by the Geth Heretics with help from the tank-bred krogan loyal to Saren's Alliance to be used by the legions of krogan planned to serve under Saren Arterius, namely for krogan shock troops. Largely based on the Rage-class heavy battle armor used by the krogan forces of the defunct Tuchankan Imperial Forces, the Berserker, much like its heavier variant in the Battlemaster set, incorporated geth technology and other improvements to make it one of the best combat armors in the galaxy, which included powerful shields and damage protection. While the Battlemaster variant was meant for use by a select few of Saren's best krogan warriors and battlemasters, the Berserker was to be made available to the majority of the krogan forces as a cheaper equivalent. As such, more Berserker armor had been produced and equipped with their krogan forces than the Battlemaster armor by the time of the Eden Prime War breaking out. Most of the krogan who used the armor were killed in battle, and those still under development were destroyed when the Normandy Squad detonated the nuclear device that would wipe out the Virmire Heretic Fortress. What few Berserker armors still existed were worn by krogan troops during the Saren's assault on the Citadel at the end of the war, where a lot were captured when the rest of Saren's tank-bred krogan were killed. What few Berserker armors remained were either melted down for scrap or taken by the Alliance and Hierarchy militaries for research and development purposes.
