Baltazar
From FABT
- "A geth with a name like that is one that means business. The geth choose their names purposefully: they choose a name that suits them. "Baltazar"? That makes him a mean son of a bitch."
- — Embassy security guard regarding his boss, Baltazar.
Security Chief Baltazar (model number: SV4568), legally recognized as Baltazar pav Rannoch, was a Trooper-class geth was a former special forces operative of the Tecr'fer in the Rannoch Republican Marine Corps, the chief of security for the Dominion embassy on Alpha, and currently the Director of Security Operations for the Normandy Memorial Station Security Bureau on Normandy Memorial Station. Built and activated in 1915 CE at the Ke'kesh Manufacturing Plant on Rannoch and assigned the model number SV4568, Baltazar would serve in the Geth Army as a combat infantry unit, assigned to the geth garrison on Pahhur where it would remain for the next two centuries, seeing little to no action due as the Quarian-geth conflict began to simmer down following the disastrous campaigns of Niro'Wumos early in the war. When the Second Morning War began, Baltazar pulled out of Pahhur with the rest of the garrison as the geth retreated to Rannoch, being initially deployed to defend the Ke'kesh Manufacturing Plant in the scenario that the quarians commenced a planetary invasion. Baltazar would, with the rest of the geth, accept the Reaper offer to be upgraded with Reaper code at the cost of being controlled by the Reapers, and following a geth victory at the First Battle of Rannoch, Baltazar would be reassigned to defend Fortress Rannoch, the enormous geth stronghold that had been chosen to house and protect Oblivion, the Reaper controlling and directing geth forces. As such, Baltazar participated in the Second Battle of Rannoch, fighting in the surface phase of the engagement, where it would engage the Normandy Squad and severely damaged, but not destroyed. Following the end of the war and peace with the quarians, Baltazar would undergo full repairs and returning to active service: having now fully actualized as an individual being, Baltazar would choose to name himself after one of the Christian biblical magi that supposedly visited the infant Jesus Christ after he was born that existed in human classical antiquity, following a naming convention that would become commonplace amongst all geth following the war. Baltazar would be assigned to a special mixed geth-quarian unit of the Tecr'fer special forces to participate in numerous surface operations across the Reaper War, serving during Operation Hornet's Nest, and would be present during the final assault on Cerberus, taking part in a raid on Minuteman Station that occurred simultaneously with the main strike on Cronos Station. Afterwards he would join the rest of the UGC Hammer ground forces in the Battle of London at the end of the war.
Following the Reaper War, Baltazar would return with the rest of the geth and quarian forces to Rannoch. Following the formation of the Republic of Rannoch, and its official recognition of geth as legal citizens. the 1st Tecr'fer Mixed Battalion was merged into the 1st Tecr'fer Battalion, and Baltazar given full status as a member of the Tecr'fer. Baltazar would later fight on the Skyllian Front of the Post-Apocalyptic War, having been present as part of the Dominion garrison on New Hellespont where the first battle of the war erupted. Baltazar would continue to serve in the Tecr'fer and participate in numerous operations throughout the war until Operation Gloves Off in 2214 CE, when he refused to obey orders to destroy a school on Mannovai that Prometheus intelligence claimed the FSF was using its basement as a command center when Baltazar's scans instead identified it as a shelter for civilians: Baltazar was relieved of command and the attack went forward, only to then confirm Baltazar's reports, leading to his commanding officer being relieved of command: despite this, Baltazar was still taken into custody and returned to Rannoch, where he was honorably discharged from the military for failure to comply with orders: Baltazar then spent the next few years following the end of the war as a construction worker on Haestrom. In 2223 CE, upon establishment of a Dominion embassy on Alpha, the embassy was willing to overlook Baltazar's discharge to recruit him as chief of security for the embassy, a role which Baltazar accepted. Baltazar would serve under numerous Dominion ambassadors from that point forward, and was present at the Palace of Eden bombings in 2252 CE, where he saved the lives of his charges as he quickly extricated the injured Pythagoras and Aristotle from the building back to the embassy, and then proceeded to stand guard over ambassador Rini'Ralin in the hospital as she recovered, never leaving her side. When the Dominion Civil War broke out in late 2252 CE, Baltazar shared DDF sympathies but remained dedicated to his job, refusing to abandon the embassy or its staff that he was charged with protecting. When rioters on Alpha breached the embassy grounds, Baltazar once again saved Rini'Ralin's life and kept her in the main building with the rest of the embassy staff and then proceeded to defend the central building from repeated attacks before the Alpha Peacekeepers arrived to lift the siege. When the Dominion broke its treaty with the Sanctum and trespassed on their territory as their forces moved through their space to invade the Covenant in March of 2253 CE, Rini'Ralin ordered Baltazar to stand his forces down and put down their weapons, seeing no point in resisting the Peacekeepers and intending to surrender upon their arrival. Baltazar did so and he was taken into custody by the Peacekeepers along with the rest of the embassy staff and his own forces, and he would be one of many of them to express a willingness to defect to the Sanctum.
The Dominion Civil War would end a month later, and Baltazar and his staff would be released from custody and allowed to return to Rannoch. While Baltazar's job had been rendered redundant, he would later be forwarded a recommendation by Rini'Ralin as a candidate to becoming chief of security for the then-newly founded Normandy Memorial Station Security Bureau, the security for the capital of the UGR, Normandy Memorial Station. Baltazar would ultimately be chosen and accepted the offer, and remains Director of Security Operations for the organization to this day.
