Argos Rho is a cluster near the northern edge of Alliance space, close to the Attican Traverse. In the asari cycle, Argos Rho was colonized by the Salarian Union by 288 BCE, becoming a part of Inner Council space. The cluster was invaded and captured by the First Rachni Collective during the Third Rachni War, and would be annexed as a rachni territory until the Fourth Rachni War, when the Tuchankan Empire recaptured it and it returned to being part of Inner Council space. The salarian STG would establish a secret command center and staging base in the Phoenix system during the Krogan Rebellions, which would later be commandeered by the Turian Hierarchy upon their entry into the war and retrofitted into strike base. After the Rebellions, and following the ratification of the Treaty of Etamis between the Citadel Council and the Terminus Systems, the cluster would be abandoned by the Council, as it fell within the new Attican Traverse buffer zone. It wouldn't be colonized again until the late 2160s, when the Systems Alliance claimed the cluster and colonized Intai'sei. They would not however stake claim to the abandoned Pinnacle Station, and jointly cooperated with the turians to transform the former command center into a training facility, which would also be used during the Reaper War as an initiation for members wishing to join the N7 Special Operations Group.

Argos Rho would go untouched by the Reaper War, and the Systems Coalition would work to expand their colonization projects across the cluster, as well as establish scientific and military research and observation outposts across the sector. Argos Rho was largely ignored during the Dominion Civil War, except for minor event in which a Coalition warship destroyed Pinnacle Station from orbit to prevent it from falling into DDF hands, and has since then remained a territory of the Systems Coalition.

The cluster is named after the Ancient Greek city-state of Argos. Rho is the 17th letter of the Greek alphabet. In essence, the cluster's name means "17th Argos".
