"Yeah, we tangled once. Caught him alone. None of his gang to help him...still couldn't take him out. Never seen a krogan regen that fast, he was a freak of nature. We kept at it until his reinforcements showed up...it was tough, but...I had to let him go."
Garrus Vakarian to Commander Shepard regarding the failed ambush.

The Ambush in the Sino District was an ambush in the Sino District of Omega staged by Archangel's Omega Squad and sprung on the Blood Pack in the concluding months of Archangel's war against crime. Having been at war with Omega's criminal underworld for nearly two years, Archangel's Omega Squad had established a sizable reputation for being the most effective vigilantes on the station, striking fear into every gang, PMC and cartel across Omega, and this made them a lot of enemies, none more pertinent than the three biggest PMCs on Omega: the Blue Suns, Eclipse and Blood Pack. All three had their operations and business constantly and regularly disrupted by Archangel and his team, harassing their supply runs, ambushing trade deals, hitting supply depots and killing dozens of their men, depriving them of contracts and large sums of money, but this only led to frustration on their part, causing them to lash out recklessly, playing right into Archangel's hands as he lured them into pre-prepared ambushes, further draining them of resources in the process. On one such occasion in July 2185 CE, towards the end of the conflict, Archangel arranged an ambush in the Sino District with the goal of luring out the leader of the Omega chapter of the Blood Pack, Weyrloc Garm: Garrus spent a week mapping out the district for the perfect spot for an ambush, going over the plan with his team until they were completely familiar with it. In July, he finally put his plan into action, beginning by splitting half his team off to infiltrate and bomb the Blood Pack headquarters on Omega, located in the neighbouring Daphor District. The other half, under Garrus, would prepare their positions in the Sino District: the idea was that Garm was present at the HQ, and upon suffering such a brazen attack, would march out with his men to meet Archangel's team in battle, who would then feint a retreat, deliberately withdrawing clumsily to further goad Garm into believing he had the advantage, and would pursue them. They would continue to withdraw into the Sino District, through a small, run-down amusement park, where the second team would be waiting to cut down Garm and his men in a crossfire, with the withdrawing team suddenly turning to engage. In the ambush, Garm would be killed, dealing the Blood Pack a devastating blow, and hopefully paving the way for Garrus to push them off Omega for good.

The first stage of the plan was a success, with Garm taking the bait and rousing 300 vorcha and 10 of his krogan brothers to pursue Archangel's retreating team, under the command of Sidonis, with Garm calling for further reinforcements in the hope of cutting off Archangel's line of retreat. They led him through the amusement park, Garm actually rushing ahead of his troops, leaving him even more exposed to be cut off and killed with ease. Garrus himself targeted Garm, with orders for the rest of his team to pick off Garm's minions so they could isolate him. Once the ambush began, Garm's men were cut down very quickly, suffering a hailstorm of rockets, fire from machine guns and sniper rifles. A fougasse entrenched near a ferris wheel tore the wheel from its supports, killing several vorcha and a krogan in the initial blast and killing dozens more when the ferris wheel came down, crushing them. Garm was largely left to fend for himself, taking cover when both Garrus and Sidonis' detachment turned and opened fire on him. Despite concentrated fire from multiple directions, Garm stubbornly refused to die, moving from cover to cover as he tried to push his way towards Archangel, zeroing in on his location. Shocked by Garm's shockingly resilient regenerative abilities, able to regen nearly as fast as a vorcha, and despite being left alone, Garm held out for two hours under a withering assault from Archangel's team who had cut off his escape. Eventually Garm, suffering injuries that would have killed other krogan ten times over but which had merely infuriated him, was able to break into the building Archangel was situated on, with Sidonis' team moving to pursue him. Garrus was taking position at the foot of the stairs, ready to engage Garm with incendiary ammunition when Sensat Aben, who he had monitoring Blood Pack communications, warned him that Blood Pack reinforcements were moving with all haste to their location, bringing armoured vehicles and heavy munitions and coming in large numbers. Realizing the ambush had failed, Garrus was unwilling to risk getting surrounded and overwhelmed, so he ordered his team to pack up and return to base, abandoning the operation. Archangel himself tossed a flashbang down the stairs and slammed the door shut just as Garm reached his location, blinding the enraged krogan just long enough for Garrus to make his escape. Ordering his team to scatter, Garrus darted from building to building, relentlessly pursued by Garm and his Blood Pack, who went block by block in their search for him, Garm hungry for blood. After three hours however, Garrus finally slipped past the search net Garm had set out, using a sewer drain to escape undetected, and forcing Garm to call off his search, spending the rest of the day recovering from his horrific injuries.

While Garrus had written off the operation as a minor hiccup, the true consequences wouldn't be realized until it was too late. Furious at having had Archangel in his clutches and failed to end him, Garm was driven into an alliance with Krefin Tarak, the batarian leader of the Blue Suns, who Garrus had also tried to assassinate a couple of days after at his own home. This alliance would grow to encompass the Eclipse as well, and Garm would get his revenge on 1 August following the successful raid on Archangel's HQ, wiping out his team after capturing and torturing Sidonis into giving up the location. Despite this, Garm would meet his end in the subsequent Kima Siege that followed, with Archangel himself finishing the job he started when he initially planned the original ambush.
