- "Aren't you listening!? Besides, I was shot! How do you explain that?"
- — Wilson in response to Jacob Taylor's line of questioning regarding his suspicion of Wilson's actions during the Attack on Lazarus Station.
Chief Medical Officer Albert Wilson was a member of Cerberus who initially worked for the organization's science division and the chief medical tech of the Lazarus project, but later betrayed Cerberus to work for the Shadow Broker. Born on Earth in the United North American States, Wilson initially worked as a scientist for the Systems Alliance, stationed on Terra Nova where he specialized in medical science: many of Wilson's ideas were dismissed by the Alliance as too radical and extreme for practical application, and his morality was questioned on multiple occasions by his peers and colleagues alike. His attitude ultimately resulted in him being highly disliked, with a rude, abrasive demeanour and often called uncompromisingly contemptible, cowardly and self-serving, and many complaints from his female colleagues reported sexist and unprofessional behavior. Wilson's perceived lack of progress in the Alliance drove him to join Cerberus in 2167 CE, where he believed his talents would be better utilized and appreciated. Assigned to the Poseidon Cell of Cerberus' science division, the Illusive Man was made aware of Wilson's past, but despite this he was also aware of Wilson's scientific capabilities, and was assigned to numerous scientific projects over the years to advance Cerberus' knowledge of medical technology. Over time, Wilson quickly became one of the organization's best scientists, and was more often than not involved in some of their more prolific projects.
In 2184 CE, Wilson was reassigned to the newly formed ad-hoc Lazarus Cell to oversee the Lazarus project: Cerberus' mission to resurrect Commander Shepard following his death in 2183 CE, and subsequently stationed on the eponymous Lazarus Station. Spending much of the first couple of months performing research for the project without a body, this changed in mid to late 2184 CE when Cerberus finally obtained Shepard's remains from Liara T'Soni. A month into beginning the project, Wilson was contacted by the Shadow Broker, who had wanted to sell Shepard's body to the Collectors, and engaged Wilson to help them in this regard with the promise of a large sum of money: Wilson agreed to this deal, fed up with Miranda Lawson's belittling of him and the thankless nature of his job. Spying for the Shadow Broker and leaking progress to him on the Lazarus project as it went, Wilson had effectively defected to the Broker without Cerberus knowing it: when Shepard awoke prematurely in mid 2185 CE, proving without a doubt the success of Lazarus, the Broker ordered Wilson to hack the security systems to kill Shepard and the Cerberus personnel on the station, followed by purging any data that anybody could use to replicate Lazarus' results. Wilson was successful in hacking the security mechs across the station, resulting in a slaughter, with Wilson sending a wave of mechs to trap Miranda and hopefully kill her, while another was sent to kill Shepard, with Wilson making his way to the escape shuttles. Despite Wilson's efforts, his plan fell apart, and after an improvised attempt to manipulate Shepard and Jacob into escaping with him, he was discovered and executed by Miranda upon turning up to the station's shuttle bay, shot point blank in the head with a pistol before he could react.
