Able Squad was a Systems Alliance Marine Corps combat unit attached to the 45th Infantry Company of the 212th Planetary Defense Group and commanded by Sergeant Stephanie Mikaelson. The unit was formed along with the rest of the 45th Infantry Company on 13 March 2173 CE from elements of Marine Corps garrisons previously stationed on Sirona, Ferris Fields, Terra Nova, Mars and Shanxi and assigned to Colony Euphoria on Eden Prime as part of the 212th PDG, which was seen as "hell for the unaccomplished" by those who were part of it, largely due to the lack of action and exorbitant amount of free-time marines stationed there had. Able Squad consisted of 12 marines, and was tasked with supplementing the Eden Prime Colonial Guard in the event of a slaver attack. On 7 June 2183 CE, the commanding officer of the 45th Infantry Company, First Lieutenant Michael Falstaff, gathered the company to assist in providing a security detail for a recently discovered prothean beacon on the planet, with Able Squad tasked with securing a perimeter until Council authorities could arrive to retireve the prothean artifact. At the last minute, Able Squad's transport was redeployed to the northwest of their designated AO to set up a checkpoint and block off all civilian access to the spaceport, with Alliance Command wanting to keep access to the beacon restricted to military personnel and contain information leaks.
On 9 June 2183 CE, the colony was taken completely surprise by a sudden and ruthless offensive by geth heretics led by a rogue spectre named Saren Arterius, who sacked and torched the colony in search of the beacon. A few minutes into the attack, Able Squad lost contact with Bravo Squad, and shortly thereafter received a transmission from Falstaff that Panther Squad was going to oversee the beacon's relocation to keep it out of enemy hands, as he rightly assumed the geth were there for the artifact: a few minutes later, Panther reported engagement with hostile enemy forces, and contact was lost. Mickaelson had her squad abandon its post and double back to the beacon dig site to assist Panther, meeting up with Dog and Charlie squads there and finding all of Bravo and Panther to be dead, along with Major Mankins and Falstaff. Donkey of Dog Squad assumed command, ordering Able to assist Charlie in protecting the beacon at all costs until Alliance reinforcements arrived, as it was clear the geth really wanted it. Both squads successfully held off a geth ambush, consisting of the same geth who had doubled back to secure the beacon after establishing a perimeter, and Able and Charlie were left to protect the beacon while Dog Squad left to round up survivors and civilians, while hopefully also regrouping with elements of the Colonial Guard. As Able established a perimeter and set up defenses, they found a few surviving scientists from the excavation team and herded them into a nearby shack, locking the door behind them to keep them safe.
Shortly after Dog Squad's departure, the geth launched a large counterattack, supplemented by drones and destroyers, and while Able Squad put up a valiant defense, they were eventually overwhelmed from all directions. The few survivors of Able squad were captured by the geth and impaled on dragon's teeth, where they went through the process of huskification and would eventually attack the Normandy Squad as they came through the area, where they were subsequently put down, much to the horror of Ashley M. Williams, the sole survivor of the 45th.
